a few months ago whitney and tyler contacted me to document the birth of their first baby, maddox. i met them for the first time the day of the birth and we became good friends, pretty quick. :) they had planned on having a natural birth and studied the bradley method throughout her pregnancy. they were really prepared.. well as prepared as you can be. after over 24 hours of labor and being dilated to only 5cm almost all night (i slept about 2 hours, thinking they'd be calling me at any minute) they decided to get an epidural, break her water and then hopefully soon after meet their baby. even with having an epidural whitney was able to use the squatting bar for most of pushing and that was incredible to watch. she amazed everyone and i loved seeing how proud tyler was of her. after about 32 hours of labor and more than an hour of pushing 7 pound 11 ounce Maddox was here.. and he is perfect.
maddox's birth story | utah birth photographer
photographing a birth is definitely one of the most amazing opportunities i'll have in my life. if i had to choose only one subject to focus on with my career, it would be birth stories. i can't explain the natural high it gives you to be there and even when it's someone you hardly even know.. it doesn't make a difference. its truly a blessing and i am thankful for every chance I get.
